Exhibited at ROHM Theater Kyoto, Japan
July 10, 2017 - July 11, 2017

This work is a sound sculpture consisting of four skulls facing four directions, Each skull is equipped with a speaker unit.

Based on calculations of the "Catalogue of endangered languages (ELCAT)" a joint project of University of Hawaiʿi at Mānoa and the LINGUIST List at Eastern Michigan University, by the end of the 21st century, 50% of the world’s languages will be lost.
The loss of languages also implies the disappearance of minority cultures and customs, as well as oral traditions such as stories and folk songs.

Any metropolis on the planet sells the same fast fashion and fast food. In a way, this aspect can be considered a direct link to the rapid decline of indigenous and traditional cultures.

The four skulls of this work chant the scales and languages which were sung and handed down from ancient times in the North, South, East and West of Japan.
It repeatedly appeal to the tragic moment of the disappearance of folk songs and languages that could happen in the near future.
